Start of the Project: Laying the Foundation for Excellence
This section details KNR’s comprehensive services provided to Rosneft from 2021 to 2023 for managing drilling wastewater and restoring drilling pits. Our solutions ensure the safe and environmentally responsible treatment of wastewater generated during drilling operations, followed by the effective remediation of used drilling pits to their original condition.
The project’s success begins with a solid foundation.
- Detailed Project Planning & Needs Assessment: KNR collaborates with Rosneft to understand the specific characteristics of their drilling wastewater, including volume, composition, and presence of contaminants. We also assess the condition of designated drilling pits, considering factors like size, depth, and potential soil contamination. Based on this information, KNR develops a comprehensive project plan outlining the chosen wastewater treatment technology, pit remediation methods, and necessary resources.
- Resource Procurement & Mobilization: KNR procures the necessary equipment and resources for both aspects of the project. This may involve acquiring specialized wastewater treatment plants (e.g., filtration systems, separators), transportation vehicles for hauling excavated materials, and appropriate tools and equipment for pit remediation activities.
- Regulatory Compliance & Permitting: KNR ensures all operations adhere to relevant environmental regulations. This includes obtaining permits for wastewater discharge after treatment and permits for pit remediation activities, which may involve soil testing and disposal considerations.

During the Project: Building With Quality and Safety at the Forefront
With a comprehensive plan, secured resources, and skilled personnel, KNR meticulously executes the drilling wastewater treatment and pit remediation processes throughout the project duration.
The project’s success begins with a solid foundation.
- Effective Wastewater Treatment: KNR deploys and operates the chosen wastewater treatment technologies on-site. This may involve processes like filtration, sedimentation, and potentially advanced techniques like reverse osmosis to remove contaminants and ensure the treated water meets discharge regulations.
- Safe & Efficient Pit Excavation: KNR utilizes appropriate excavation techniques to remove contaminated soil and drilling waste from designated pits. This may involve employing excavators or other heavy machinery while adhering to safety protocols and minimizing environmental impact.
- Pit Remediation & Restoration: Following excavation, KNR implements effective pit remediation strategies. This may involve backfilling the pit with clean soil, restoring its original contours, and potentially incorporating soil amendments or revegetation techniques to promote natural ecological recovery.

Finalizing the Project: A Smooth Handover and Ongoing Support
The final stage focuses on project completion, ensuring proper documentation, and handover of the remediated drilling pits to Rosneft.
The project’s success begins with a solid foundation.
- Waste Disposal Documentation & Reporting: KNR maintains detailed records of all waste disposal activities throughout the project. This may include documentation of the types and quantities of excavated materials, transportation manifests, and disposal certificates for any contaminated soil requiring specific disposal procedures.
- Site Restoration Verification & Handover: Upon completion of pit remediation activities, KNR conducts final inspections to verify that the restored pits meet the agreed-upon criteria. This may involve soil testing to confirm contaminant removal and successful restoration. Following verification, KNR formally hands over the remediated drilling pits back to Rosneft.
- Project Report & Recommendations: KNR provides Rosneft with a comprehensive final report summarizing the project’s execution. This report details the wastewater treatment methods employed, volumes of water treated, pit remediation activities conducted, and all relevant documentation. KNR may also offer recommendations for optimizing future drilling operations to minimize wastewater generation and pit contamination.
